Red Ribbon Week Has Started

During this week each homeroom will participate in age-appropriate activities which will emphasize the importance of a healthy lifestyle. This activities will include health and nutrition awareness, safety concerns, and issues regarding friendships. Officer Jervier of the Chicago Police Department will continue the G.R.E.A.T. program with the 4th graders, which focuses on avoiding dangerous situations as well as strenghtening interpersonal and relationship skills. It’s always very fruitful time filled with many interesting activities and events.  While each grade level will focus on issues specific to the students’ ages, we will also celebrate our school community with the following activities:

Monday October 27

Students may wear red accessories (sweater, shirt, headband, wrist band, shoes etc) along with their usual uniform  to illustrate their promise to live a drug-free life.

Tuesday October 28

“Your dreams will come true if you don’t use drugs” Students may wear pajamas to school and will share their dreams for the future

Wednesday

“Sock it to drugs” by wearing crazy socks

Thursday October 30

“Tie up drugs” by making and wearing a colorful tie today ! Students can add anti-drug symbols or slogans to the ties. Also each student will receive a package of  colorful lined paper from Dr Mastalerz because “A Drug Free Life Lines Up for a Colorful Future” !

Friday October 31

In addition to attending the Track-a-thon prep rally in the afternoon students will “say boo to drugs” by wearing Halloween costumes
